Rodrick Burke
Fashion Designer, founder, and CEO of DYMEWEAR CLOTHING Rodrick Burke was born in St. Elizabeth Jamaica on July 13, 1977. When Rodrick was 6 years old his parents decided to move from Jamaica to the United States eventually settling in Kansas City. Rodricks’s entrepreneur success was fostered by a family history of successful independent business owners.
Even though the influence of entrepreneurship was strong in the Burke household his parents stressed the importance of education. In 1999 Rodrick graduated from Central Methodist University with a double major in Math and Physics and worked as a Network Engineer for a major telecommunications company until he decided to join the Air Force in 2003.
Before his departure to the air force Rodrick had a conversation with Marcel Yanez about the perfect “10” or what is know as a “Dyme” in the hip hop culture. Who she is, what she is, and where she is. From that conversation in the summer of 2003 Dymewear Clothing was launched from the minds of Rodrick Burke and Marcel Yanez. Rodrick Officially incorporated Dymewear in 2005 with Marcel Yanez as his partner. His vision for Dymewear was to create a line of clothing that made every female that wore it feel like a “Dyme”. Inspired by females from all cultures, all shapes and sizes. Dymewear Clothing was conceived to be the perfect compliment for the sexy attitude inside every female.
Dymewear made its introduction to the world of fashion in the summer of 2005 in a stunning fashion show in Saint Louis and has received recognition in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Vegas, Atlanta, LA and more. Dymewear’s eye catching logo and vibrant hues appealed to the fashion elite. Following its introduction in St Louis curious shoppers made their way to the World Wide Web and local stores to find out more about the clothing line. Just 30 days after it’s first fashion show 2005 there were 10 other fashion show host and fashion events across the country sending invites to debut the line in their cities and from that the many orders and request for the line to be stocked in stores started synonymously.
Dymewear has grown from a denim collection to include a variety of clothing styles such as tops, skirts, shorts, Capri’s and a line of intimate wear. Rodricks’s vision for the company includes expansion that will allow it to keep up with market trends while repositioning the company to meet the demands of the consumers.
